Macacauba (Platymiscium spp.) heartwood color ranges from bright red to a darker reddish- or purplish-brown color, commonly with darker strips. Sapwood is clearly demarcated yellow to white. Grain is straight to interlocked, with a medium to fine texture. Good working characteristics for both hand and machine tools; and turns and glues well. Wood has the ability to take on a high natural polish. Slab measures 1-1/4″ x 15-1/2″ x 44″ and has been surfaced on both sides.
